A Note On Gratitude

In times of jubilation and exultation, one mustn’t forget The Giver – Our LORD – He who grants all pleasures and joys. Though this is well understood by many, most willingly accept the blessings and gifts The LORD so graciously provides without giving so much as a second thought to thanking Him. This habit is commonplace amongst all of us (and I am definitely prone to it), nevertheless, it shouldn’t be.

In Luke 17:17-18 (NIV), after Jesus heals the ten lepers and sends them on their way to the priest, He points out the peculiarity of their selfishness when only one of them returns, stating:

“Jesus asked, ‘Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?’ ”

Noticing the man’s sincere gratitude and faithfulness, Jesus goes on to say:

“Stand up and go. Your faith has made you well.”

The simple act of remembering to thank The LORD when joyous times arise is looked on favourably by Him, and would most likely result in further blessings for the one who does so. This must also be done with sincere gratitude and appreciation, not simply for the sake of blessings but for the single fact that He is LORD. This requires us to give Him our utmost thanks and complete praise.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV) reiterates this:

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Brethren, in times of joy (as well as in times of sorrow) we must always remember to give thanks to our wonderful God and praise His glorious Name.

Thank you Rubanza for reminding us of the importance of cultivating a life of thanksgiving🙏🏾🙏🏾It is the key that opens the door to the Presence of God, promotion, Favor and Blessings. May we all learn to be like the one leper who returned to give thanks and was made whole🙏🏾♥️
